Shift Details:

• Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced PCU / Step-Down Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity intermediate care unit. This role involves providing advanced patient care for individuals requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions beyond the scope of a general medical-surgical unit.

Work Environment:

• 26-bed Intermediate Care / Step-Down Unit
• Patients admitted from ED, ICU, PACU, and Med-Surg units
• Continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
• High-acuity adult patient population requiring advanced care

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in a PCU/step-down setting
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to changes
• Manage patients requiring respiratory support (BiPAP, oxygen therapy)
• Administer IV medications, including titrated infusions
• Perform peripheral line care and assist with phlebotomy
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams
• Maintain infection control and isolation precautions
• Document patient care accurately in EMR systems

Clinical Skills Required:

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Emergency response and rapid response team coordination
• IV therapy and medication administration
• Respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen masks, BiPAP)
• Management of central lines, arterial lines, and continuous monitoring

Requirements:

• Active New York RN License (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Step-Down or relevant experience required
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 (Med-Surg level care)
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required
• EPIC charting experience required
