Private Family in the Upper East Side of New York City Seeking a Housekeeper (Flexible end time!)

Position: Full-Time, Live-Out Housekeeper

Schedule: Monday–Friday, starting at 8:30 AM; end time is flexible (typically 1:00–2:00 PM once daily responsibilities are completed). During the summer, the schedule may shift to include Monday–Tuesday in the city and Wednesday–Friday in the Hamptons.

Salary: $75,000 per year (W-2, on payroll)

Start Date: ASAP (flexible for the right candidate)

Relocation: No – local candidates only

About the Family

A private and professional family based in the Upper East Side of Manhattan is seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized full-time housekeeper to maintain their 4,000 sq ft residence. The family has older children who are mostly away at college, so much of the home is not in regular use throughout the year. The family also maintains a second home in Bridgehampton and travels frequently, meaning there will be periods of lighter workload.

There are no pets in the household. A second housekeeper is employed at the Hamptons residence.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily housekeeping duties including general cleaning and upkeep of the home
• Handle all laundry with care, including sorting, folding, and light ironing
• Maintain a high level of organization throughout the home, including closets and storage areas
• Unpack and organize belongings following travel, ensuring items are returned to their proper places
• Manage and maintain an orderly and visually clean refrigerator
• Keep track of household systems and ensure belongings are consistently placed in their designated locations
• Ensure unused areas of the home remain clean, dust-free, and well-maintained
• Work independently and efficiently to complete all tasks within the day

Ideal Candidate & Personality

The ideal candidate is exceptionally detail-oriented, highly organized, and takes pride in maintaining a structured and immaculate home. They should be able to intuitively understand household systems, including organizing clothing and personal items without guidance.

This role requires a professional, discreet individual who is not overly chatty and respects boundaries within a private household. A calm, quiet demeanor and strong work ethic are essential. The family values someone who can work independently, maintain routine, and anticipate needs without requiring constant direction.

• Prior experience working in a private household as a housekeeper
• Excellent references
• Legal to work in the United States (W-2 position)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and maintain consistency in household systems
• Comfortable working in a quiet, low-traffic home environment
