The Backend Software Engineer will join the engineering team to build and enhance core backend systems that power conversational AI applications. This role primarily focuses on developing scalable backend services using Kotlin while occasionally contributing to frontend features when required. The position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and high-performing solutions that directly impact real-world customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Kotlin and JVM-based technologies
• Build and maintain GraphQL APIs to support internal and external systems
• Integrate services with telephony platforms such as Twilio and conversational AI tools like Dialogflow
• Create efficient and scalable data models using Firestore
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure service reliability
• Write clean, production-ready code with comprehensive test coverage (unit, integration, and end-to-end testing)
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards
• Document system architecture, APIs, and technical decisions clearly
• Deploy containerized applications using Docker and manage cloud services on Google Cloud Platform
• Occasionally develop frontend features using React and TypeScript
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to refine and deliver features
• Contribute to architectural discussions and best practice development

Required Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of professional experience in backend software development
• Proficiency in JVM languages such as Kotlin, Java, or Scala
• Experience working with RESTful or GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and data modeling techniques
• Hands-on experience with Docker and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies and debugging practices
• Basic knowledge of React and TypeScript
• Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Willingness to participate in periodic on-call rotations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience specifically with Kotlin and its ecosystem
• Knowledge of GraphQL schema design
