In this fast-paced, high-energy role, you will provide support and 1:1 supervision for program participants with complex behaviors. The DSP Day Hab 1:1 will work directly with the clinical and management teams to implement strategies for success and development, and provide transportation to and from program site, as well as to community-based activities.

This is your chance to be creative and use your problem-solving skills as you navigate new ways to help the people which you support. I/DD experience is preferred.

In addition, you will:

• Ensure safety of program participant while at program site; agency locations, community locations and all-day program location; report incidents and follow agency’s procedures as mandated, report and notify respective parties as needed (management, QA department, NYS Justice Center).
• Provide direct intervention when program participant is exhibiting behaviors.
• Provide support to program participant to engage in meaningful activities and communicate information relevant to the team to determine an appropriate schedule for program participant.
• Report program participant’s success/satisfaction and/or problems/concerns encountered during daily activities to clinical/management team.
• Participate in meetings to discuss development and strategies for program participant’s success.
• Ensure completion of all daily documentation for program participant and provide daily updates to clinical/management team.

As a 1:1 Direct Support Professional, you’ll need:

• Qualified NYS Driver’s License and needs to be and remain a QUALIFIED driver
• AMAP/First Aid/CPR/SCIP-R Training required
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• One year experience supporting people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders preferred
