Job Description

• Title: SMH Allied Sterile Processing Tech - Nights
• Location: Strong Memorial Hospital
• Duration: 01/19/2026 – 04/18/2026
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years as SPT
• Certifications: Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD), BLS
• Pay Rate (Hourly): $28 - $32
• Shift: Nights

Responsibilities

• Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts.
• Operates steam sterilizers in accordance with established procedures; checks gauges, loads/unloads sterilizers, and performs simple maintenance.
• Assures sterility by preparing cultures, reviewing test packs, interpreting results, and completing documentation.
• Checks and adjusts medical equipment; sends equipment for repair if not meeting specifications.
• Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment; cleans and disinfects equipment and work area; handles infectious waste per protocol.
• Receives and stores supplies; checks stock against requisitions; maintains par levels; documents and fills orders for surgical supplies.
• Performs daily quality assurance checks on stock levels, sterility dates, and procedure carts; maintains critical documentation such as biologicals and sterilizer load sheets.

Requirements & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS Certification
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as SPT
• Large hospital experience (500+ beds)
• Must have travel experience (6 months)
• 2 professional references from last two experiences

Preferred:

• Level 1 trauma center experience
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER Cert)
• Orthopedic tray experience
