Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner -Part time

The Counseling Services Office supports the mission of the College by promoting psychological health and wellness and helping students remove obstacles to academic success. The services include psychotherapy, counseling, consultations, crisis intervention, educational programming, and referral to community providers. The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and medication management to our students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

»Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide array of mental health conditions and disorders in a college setting.

»Provide telehealth and/or in-person as needed.

»Conduct psychodiagnostic evaluations.

»Provide brief supportive therapy and motivational interviewing when indicated.

»Prescribe appropriate pharmalogical medications to treat identified mental health conditions and disorders within scope of licensure and training.

»Closely monitor students taking pharmalogical medications.

»Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in conformity with state and federal law, and Counseling Services policies by utilizing the Counseling Services' electronic medical records system.

»Respond to urgent clinical concerns as needed.

»Function independently and as a member of the Counseling Center team to provide comprehensive mental health services.

»Engage in care coordination through feedback, consultation and case management with treating counselors at the Counseling Center.

»Engage in outreach preventative education in the areas of health and wellness, sleep hygiene, alcohol and substance abuse and interactions.

»Initiate referrals to other treatment providers as indicated.

»Initiate Mobile Crisis and/or hospitalization as indicated.

»Assist the Director in the development and implementation of policies and procedures

» for the provision of psychiatric services in Counseling Services.

»Other tasks as assigned.

General Requirements:

»Licensure in New York State as a Registered Nurse

»Doctorate of Nursing Practice or Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution

»Certification and New York State licensure as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

»Controlled Substance License from Federal DEA

»National Board Certification from ANCC or AANP

»Minimum of three years' post-graduate work practice

»Intermediate level computer expertise using a Windows located operating system, specifically MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet

» practice working with college students is preferred

» practice working with an EMR system is preferred

this job offer works 4 hours per week during the academic year (28 weeks).
