Community Habilitation (ComHab) Worker

Job Overview:

Part-time to Full-Time

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Habilitation (ComHab) Worker to support our 16-year-old son with special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing life skills support and daily activities assistance to individuals with special needs. The role requires availability after school hours and on weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one support for daily living activities, including hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Assist in the development of life skills such as communication, social interactions, and problem-solving.
• Implement and follow through on individualized care plans and goals.
• Engage in recreational activities and provide companionship.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment for the child.
• Communicate regularly with the family to report progress and any concerns.
• Maintain punctuality and consistency in the work schedule.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
• Experience working with individuals with special needs, particularly in a ComHab or similar role.
• Strong understanding of special education principles and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to be patient, empathetic, and supportive.
• Must be reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in supporting children or adolescents with developmental disabilities.
• Additional certifications or training in special education or behavior management.
• Familiarity with creating and implementing individualized care plans.

Work Schedule:

• Part-time and once comfortable/qualified, full-time -> After school and weekends

Compensation:

• $25 - $30/hr
