Bark Support is a well-established, small, family-owned dog walking and pet care company proudly serving the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill community. We are looking for a dependable, caring Pet Care Associate to join our close-knit Brooklyn team.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely loves dogs, enjoys being outdoors in all types of weather, and takes pride in doing things the right way. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, hardworking individual who is professional, reliable, and consistent each day. The right candidate is open to learning, eager to apply our training standards in their daily work, and committed to growing in the role. While a background in pet care is a plus, the ability to adapt to and embrace the way we work is just as important.
Schedule & Commitment:
- Monday–Friday availability required.
- Core hours: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM (minimum 6-7 hours per day).
- Some weekends and holidays required (with extra pay).
- Early mornings (8–9 AM) and evenings after 6 PM are a plus (not required).
- Minimum 1-year commitment.
What You’ll Do:
- Walk and care for dogs of different sizes, ages, and temperaments (up to 2–3 dogs).
- Follow Bark Support’s handling, safety, and care standards.
- Build trust with pets, pet parents, and the local community.
- Provide attentive care not only to pets, but also their homes, on the streets, and the community.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with the Bark Support team.
- Spend most of the workday outside and on your feet, moving around and enjoying your furry friends.
Full training is provided on:
- Dog behavior and handling.
- Pet care safety and standards.
- Bark Support systems, tools, and standards.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Paid training.
- Pay is per appointment, averaging $25–$30 per hour.
- Additional pay for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Assigned walking route after successfully completing the training and probation period.
- Consistent weekly earnings once established.
- Opportunity to take on more work if desired and skilled.
- Work gear and equipment provided.
- Growth opportunities in pet care, client relations, and operations.
- Work in a historic Brooklyn neighborhood with a strong sense of community.
Requirements:
- Able to work Monday–Friday between/around 10 AM–5 PM.
- Willing to work some weekends and holidays.
- Commute time to Fort Greene / Clinton Hill: 30 minutes or less.
- Physically capable of walking long distances and handling multiple dogs.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Team player, detail-oriented, organized, and dependable.
- Warm, caring personality with a genuine love for animals and people.
- Tech-comfortable with an Android smartphone and basic Google apps.
- Ability to ride a bicycle is helpful but not required.
Important Note:
This role can be challenging during the first 3-4 weeks of training and onboarding . Once you complete training and settle into your dog walking route, the work becomes rewarding, steady, and fun—often described as “dancing down the sidewalks with your pups!”
How to Apply:
- Please submit your resume.
- Include a short cover letter sharing a bit about yourself, your interests and goals, and why you want to work with Bark Support.
