Job Title: Pathologist Assistant – Contract

Location: New York, NY 10065

Duration: 11 Weeks

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (45-minute break)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: $65 – $71/hour (Based on experience)

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a qualified Pathologist Assistant for an 11-week contract assignment within a high-volume Surgical Pathology Department at a leading academic medical center in New York, NY. This role supports pathologists in the preparation, examination, and documentation of surgical specimens while maintaining strict quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens

• Accurately describe, dissect, and submit tissue sections for histologic processing

• Assist with frozen section preparation and intraoperative consultations

• Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation

• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards

• Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives

• Collaborate effectively with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and surgical teams

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the laboratory information system

Qualifications

• New York State Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant (Required)

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

  • OR equivalent program as determined by the NYS Education Department

  • OR Bachelor’s or higher degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

• 0–3 years of related pathology experience (Required)

• ASCP certification (Preferred)

• Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (Preferred)

• Strong knowledge of surgical pathology procedures and laboratory standards

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
