Job Title: Local Mover (CDL Holder) — Liffey Van Lines, Inc.
Location: New York, NY (local routes, Manhattan/Bronx/Queens/Brooklyn/LI as assigned)

Job Summary: Liffey Van Lines is seeking a reliable Local Mover with a valid CDL to operate company trucks for local moves, safely transport customer goods, and provide high-quality on-site moving services across NYC. This role combines driving responsibilities with hands-on moving and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Liffey Van Line's commercial moving vehicles in compliance with federal, state, and company CDL regulations.
- Load, secure, transport and unload furniture, appliances, boxes and other items for local residential and commercial moves.
- Protect customer property (floor mats, corner guards, door frames, carpets) and ensure all items are properly padded, wrapped and secured.
- Disassemble/reassemble furniture and operate moving equipment (dollies, straps, hand trucks, ramps).
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance needs and complete basic safety checks.
- Maintain accurate manifests, delivery paperwork, logs, and time/route records as required by company policy.
- Coordinate with dispatch and communicate professionally with customers about arrival times, handling instructions and any issues.
- Adhere to Liffey Van Lines’ safety procedures and participate in required training and safety meetings.
- Assist with warehouse duties or short-term storage handling when needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the company truck class (specify Class B preferred); endorsements (air brakes, etc.) a plus.
- Clean driving record; ability to pass background check and drug/alcohol screening.
- Minimum 5 years driving commercial vehicles or equivalent moving experience.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy items regularly (up to 75–100 lbs with team lifts).
- Strong customer service, communication skills, and teamwork orientation.
- Comfortable using GPS/maps and following dispatch directions.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional appearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior moving company experience in NYC, furniture assembly/disassembly skills.
- Experience with padded wrapping, shrink-wrap, moving straps, and stair carries.
- Forklift certification or warehouse experience a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Physically demanding, including frequent lifting, carrying, bending and stair carries.
- Work outdoors in varied NYC weather; occasional extended hours, evenings or weekend moves as business requires.
- Primarily local routes with same-day returns; occasional longer or overnight assignments only if scheduled.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability for repeated heavy lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Good stamina, mobility, hearing and vision for safe operation.
