Plant Maintenance Operations Scheduler
Plant Maintenance Operations Scheduler
Location: Schenectady, NY
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (with occasional call-ins)
Pay: $31.00–$39.50 per hour
Join dsm-firmenich’s Human Nutrition & Health (HNH) Premix operations, where we blend liquids and dry ingredients for dietary supplements and foods. As the Plant Maintenance Operations Scheduler, you orchestrate repairs, coordinate contractors, issue safe work permits, and keep the CMMS humming—so production runs reliably and safely.
A day in the life
You start with the CMMS: reviewing open work orders, setting priorities by equipment criticality, and aligning today’s preventive maintenance with production needs. By mid-morning, you’re issuing safe work permits and job safety analyses, confirming PPE and LSR compliance, and walking the floor to validate work readiness. After lunch, you sync with Production and the Maintenance Supervisor on status, parts availability, and contractor progress—closing the day with meticulous documentation and updates to schedules and inventories.
What you’ll do
- Champion site behavioral programs and performance expectations (training completion, SHE and Quality execution, PPE use, procedure adherence) and handle other tasks assigned by management.
- Direct maintenance technicians and third-party contractors across shifts and projects—ensuring on-time execution and accurate documentation.
- Sequence and schedule work based on urgency and asset criticality to minimize downtime.
- Plan and run preventive maintenance routines to boost uptime and efficiency.
- Develop, create, and review safe work permits and job safety analyses for all maintenance activities.
- Manage spare parts, tools, and consumables inventory to support maintenance operations.
- Partner closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and Production on repairs, PM status, and contractor activities.
Availability
- Must be able to work weekends, overtime, and holidays as maintenance demand requires, including call-ins.
- Annual site shutdown in early July (as needed).
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years in maintenance coordination, industrial project management, or similar field (education may substitute for experience).
- Demonstrated leadership in fast-paced environments; prior maintenance supervision in manufacturing is a plus.
- Advanced computer literacy: spreadsheets and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint) plus CMMS proficiency.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into practical plant solutions.
- Strong partnership mindset with Production and Maintenance teams to deliver improvements and sustain outcomes.
- Proven planning and scheduling skills.
