Line Cook

Chama Mama | New York City

About Chama Mama

At Chama Mama, we do more than prepare food—we preserve culture, create memorable experiences, and bring people together through genuine hospitality.

Inspired by the rich traditions of Georgia, the birthplace of wine, Chama Mama brings authentic Georgian cuisine to New York City with a modern approach while honoring centuries-old recipes and culinary craftsmanship. Every dish reflects our commitment to quality, authenticity, and the Georgian belief that "A Guest Is a Gift from God."

Today, Chama Mama continues to grow across New York City through multiple restaurant locations, a centralized Culinary Lab, bakery operations, and catering services. As we expand, we are looking for passionate culinary professionals who take pride in craftsmanship, consistency, teamwork, and delivering exceptional food every day.

Who You Are

As a Line Cook, you are more than someone who prepares food—you are a craftsman dedicated to quality, consistency, and teamwork.

You understand that every plate represents the Chama Mama brand and that every guest experience begins in the kitchen. You take pride in following recipes with precision, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and supporting your teammates during every service. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are always eager to learn, improve, and contribute to the success of the kitchen.

What You'll Do

Deliver Culinary Excellence

  • Prepare menu items according to Chama Mama recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly portioned, and prepared according to company specifications.
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, flavor, and presentation for every dish served.
  • Taste and inspect prepared items to ensure they meet Chama Mama's quality standards before service.
  • Adjust preparation techniques when necessary to accommodate guest dietary restrictions or preferences.

Support Daily Kitchen Operations

  • Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and execution of every order.
  • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation (FIFO), and temperature controls.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate low stock items to the Kitchen Manager.
  • Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment while reporting maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Assist with daily prep production and station readiness before each service.

Champion Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow all Department of Health regulations and company food safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
  • Properly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Handle food safely while maintaining proper temperatures and storage procedures.

Support Team Development

  • Work collaboratively with all Back-of-House team members to achieve operational excellence.
  • Assist with training and supporting new kitchen team members.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and accountable kitchen culture.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and teamwork during every shift.

What You'll Receive

At Chama Mama, we believe our people are the heart of our success. We invest in culinary professionals who are passionate about hospitality and committed to continuous growth.

As a Line Cook, you'll enjoy:

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company matching.
  • Paid Time Off.
  • Employee dining discounts.
  • Structured culinary training and development.
  • Opportunities for career growth within our expanding restaurant group.
  • The opportunity to learn and help preserve authentic Georgian culinary traditions.

Our Leadership Principles

At Chama Mama, every team member lives by a few simple beliefs:

  • A Guest Is a Gift from God.
  • Quality Is Never an Accident.
  • Respect Every Team Member.
  • Learn Something Every Day.
  • Take Pride in Every Plate.
  • Lead by Example, Regardless of Your Position.

Why Chama Mama?

Whether you're beginning your culinary journey or looking to grow your career, Chama Mama provides the opportunity to learn from experienced leaders, develop your skills, and advance within a company that values dedication, craftsmanship, and hospitality.

If you're passionate about cooking, teamwork, and delivering exceptional guest experiences, we'd love to meet you.
