Payroll assistant
Job Title: Payroll Assistant
Duration: 8 weeks
Shift Hours: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
Location: New York 10004
Pay Rate: $30/hr on W2
Note: Workers are to report onsite at Kings County (Brooklyn or Woodhull)
Job Summary:
- The Payroll Assistant is responsible for processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy in wage calculations, deductions, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
- This role involves handling wage garnishments, conducting audits for data integrity, and providing accounting-related support to the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Enter and process wage garnishments and related payments.
- Prepare property payroll transfer reports.
- Ensure benefits deductions are accurate and up to date.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain payroll accuracy and data integrity.
- Support leadership with various accounting and payroll-related projects.
- Handle payroll activities including garnishments, taxes, year-end processing, and retroactive pay calculations.
- Work with multiple payroll systems, including PeopleSoft Payroll.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of payroll experience.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with QuickBooks, Pay Choice, or Payroll Associates preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
