Cloud Economist

Cloud Economist at Revelio Labs, Inc., New York, NY (F/T) JOB DUTIES: Conduct research, prepare reports, and formulate plans to address economic problems related to the workforce and the role cloud computing plays in enhancing labor productivity. Perform complex data analysis to improve the efficiency and predictive power of economic models for labor market data. Apply microeconomics, specifically labor economics and data science, to find and identify interesting trends in the economic data and visualize these trends and write about them. Study and analyze economic and workforce data by turning the raw data into informative and systematic workforce data. Conduct research on economic issues and disseminate research findings through technical reports and external digests. Perform cost-benefit analysis of cloud-native technologies, economic viability of their use, and economic analysis and optimization of cloud infrastructure expenses. Formulate recommendations, policies, or plans to solve or interpret client workforce/economic data and the economics of the cloud. Analyze organizational data, develop cloud cost optimization models which help with revenue growth, cost-cutting, and account for risk aversion. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Masters degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Mathematics, or related field, and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, as Economist, or in an Economics related position. Alternatively, employer will accept a PhD degree in Economics, Mathematics, or related field, and one (1) year of experience. Full term of experience must include: Software development life-cycle and tools including Git, Jenkins, Python and Bash; Docker and Kubernetes to orchestrate containerized workloads across its clouds infrastructure; and, Economic modeling and regression analysis. Experience must include three (3) months in each of the following: Data engineering principles and tools including ETL, S3, SQL, and regex; Data science tools and techniques including Python, Jupyter Notebooks, pandas, and matplotlib; and, Processing internal data to gain the insights on past and future optimizations. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. Employer will accept experience gained before, during, or after an academic course of study. Telecommuting permitted from any U.S. location.Approx. 20% travel to domestic data center is required. SALARY: $227,000 - $240,000 per year
