Group Manager, Product (Remote) New York City, New York
Job Overview
As a Group Manager of Product Management at Weedmaps, you will lead several product lines, execute cross‑functional alignment, and drive delivery of your team’s product roadmap and revenue goals. You’ll partner with leaders to translate product vision into strategic and technological decisions, drive accountability, metrics ownership, and translate strategy into results.
As a product owner (leader), you will make it easier for shoppers to learn about cannabis, engage with brands, find dispensaries, and order products online. Your team will create new solutions, innovate, and deliver an amazing consumer experience and business results for Weedmaps and its customers.
You are passionate about the cannabis economy, marketplaces, and advertising products, with deep expertise in mobile commerce from user acquisition to order flows. Ideally you have experience in multi‑side marketplaces, discovering user needs and pain points, and simplifying complex problems for elegant solutions. You have proven experience launching products at scale, building best‑in‑class high‑traffic online products, and have started or grown businesses.
Responsibilities
- Command a product department to innovate, drive revenue, and maximize user retention across our portfolio.
- Partner with leaders to maintain a holistic product roadmap on an ongoing basis.
- Possess a deep understanding of product development across stakeholders (data, marketing, etc.).
- Study industry trends, competition, stakeholder feedback, and analytics to make well‑informed decisions.
- Maintain a deep understanding of customers and their needs.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape across our portfolio.
- Identify new growth opportunities through quantitative research, UI/UX studies, and industry methods.
- Ensure initiatives have thorough rationale documented and communicated.
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing to define business cases, requirements, and user journey maps.
- Partner with Engineering leadership for alignment and efficiency.
- Influence product quality and productivity improvements through new procedures and culture changes.
- Recruit, hire, grow, and retain top talent.
- Leverage KPIs for measuring team performance and deliver performance reviews.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, execution, and road‑block removal.
- Ensure team proficiency in tooling (analytics, feature rollout, experimentation, project management, acceptance testing).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of revenue‑generating product leadership experience, focused on marketplaces and strong user communities, with 4+ years managing leaders.
- Experience with at least two of the following: subscription, e‑commerce, advertising business models.
- Experience working with engineering teams and building cross‑functional alignment.
- Experience with agile, waterfall or other product development styles.
- Proven experience building, growing, inspiring, and retaining a collaborative, results‑focused team.
- Ability to develop KPIs for measuring performance and deliver performance reviews.
- Track record of balancing e‑commerce with community building.
- Strong customer empathy and experience shaping product direction based on needs and targets.
- Natural curiosity, growth mindset, obsession for details.
- Effective, persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $164,953 – $194,896 per year.
