Paraprofessional School-Based (Special Education)
Position Overview
This position involves working one-on-one with a preschool student in a school setting. The paraprofessional will support the child throughout the school day, assist with classroom participation, and accompany the student to therapy sessions as needed.Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to a preschool student throughout the school day.
- Assist the child within the classroom and help maintain engagement in activities.
- Accompany the child to therapy sessions including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
- Respond appropriately to medical situations or emergencies if they arise.
- Follow guidance from teachers, therapists, and supervisors.
- Perform additional paraprofessional duties as needed based on the student’s needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3–6 months experience as a paraprofessional preferred
- Training in the use of an Epi-Pen
- Ability and willingness to work with medically fragile children in a school environment
- Mandated Reporter Certification
- Must be fingerprinted, or willing to be fingerprinted, by the Board of Education (fees paid by candidate)
- Recent Quantiferon TB test
- Pre-employment physical exam
- Proof of immunization/titers for MMR, TDAP, and Varicella
