Supervisor of Direct Support Staff
This role oversees the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Senior DSPs at Cedar Knolls House and serves as the functional supervisor of the program. The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility and works in close collaboration with peers, the Senior Team Leader, and the Program Manager. This role operates under the direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide supervision of Direct Support Professional staff within the facility and ensure appropriate program coverage and staff-to-youth ratios.
- Participate in weekly program meetings and individual supervision of Senior Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals staff.
- Collaborate and ensure coordination of programming for the youth that includes but is not limited to clinical, recreational, medical, food, and school services, as needed.
- Oversee and coordinate the daily implementation of clients’ individualized service and treatment plans, ensuring consistent, person-centered care and guiding DSPs and Senior DSPs.
- Act as an integral part of the interviewing process and have strong input into final hiring recommendations.
- Work in collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director and Human Resources to address issues related to staff.
- Oversee and facilitate collaboration among all program staff and youth to ensure the effective completion and implementation of individualized service plans, treatment goals, and crisis management strategies.
- Participate in the intake/admission for new referrals.
- Provide direct milieu care/ coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Complete the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Train-the-Trainer and Foundations courses and oversee the coordination and delivery of TCI training to program staff.
- Conduct on-site trainings to Senior Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals staff.
- Become trained in MAT (Medication Administration Training) to administer and oversee the administration of medication to clients.
- Become certified to conduct fire drills ( Complete the S95, F07, F01 Certificates within 6 months of hire).
- Actively participate in weekly Integrated Treatment Model (ITM) groups, learning communities, required meetings, trainings, and booster sessions to support model fidelity and program effectiveness.
- Supervises, reviews, and approves all the documentation (incident reports, progress notes, Individual Crisis Management Plans, missing persons etc.) completed by the direct support staff (Sen. DSP /DSP).
- Respond to all clients and environmental crisis, as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by management
- Participate in the on-call rotation, providing supervisory support and guidance to staff during after-hours or emergency situations
- Master's, Bachelor's, or Associate Degree required, varies with years of related experience .
- Supervisory experience.
- Willingness to work with adolescents/ young adults living with the impact of trauma and experience mental health challenges.
- Compassion and respect for vulnerable individuals.
- Patience and understanding for the sometimes-slow process of stabilization and recovery.
- Bilingual a plus
