Med/Surg Tele RN Job Details

• Location: Rochester, NY 14621 (New York healthcare job)
• Facility Type: Tertiary Care Hospital – Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Locum Tenens
• Start Date: October 7, 2025
• End Date: January 6, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
• Float Requirement: Yes, within Med/Surg units
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Navy bottoms, navy or white tops
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2080

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic charting system
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Prior travel RN or locum tenens nursing experience required
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7
• Applicants must live more than 75 miles from the Rochester facility

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and orthopedic needs
• Monitor telemetry and respond to rapid response/code situations
• Manage and care for central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs
• Administer blood products and medications according to hospital protocols
• Provide wound care, including wound vac management
• Care for patients with feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and oxygen therapy (including high-flow nasal cannula)
• Support orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement patients
• Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, etc.)
• Maintain isolation precautions and infection control standards
