We sell, service, design and install radio repeater systems, fire station alerting systems, public address equipment, distributed antenna systems, cell phone booster systems, security camera systems, access control systems, uninterruptible power supplies, servers, switches, PTP Links and more. Systems include all types of mounting hardware, cables, antennas, operator interface computers, devices and power.
Summary
As a Field Service Technician, you will build, install, troubleshoot, service, and maintain Land Mobile Radio(LMR) analog, DMR, P25, and trunked digital RF systems. You, along with the field service team, will be directly responsible for keeping our communities' public safety, education, and public works departments communicating.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The job tasks encompass technical responsibilities, including the deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwave equipment, computers, servers, and network equipment. Our Technicians collaborates closely with Public Safety Customers, System Managers, Engineers, Sales Teams, and Project Managers . Additionally, the department operates on a 24/7/365 basis to provide support for mission-critical systems that serve our Public Safety Customers.
- Maintain, optimize, test, document and manage highly technical Motorola and other communications systems.
- Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system while taking a proactive approach to address and mitigate system level alarms and malfunctions.
- Manage system availability through routine system maintenance, performance monitoring and system wide preventative maintenance.
- Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and the documentation of results.
- Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.
- Deliver knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Deliver knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
- Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
Preferred Skills:
- Candidates must be familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques for current model digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures.
- Experience as a Communications System Technician with expertise in P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment.
- Highly knowledgeable in wired/wireless communications systems, including local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, demonstrating strong computer literacy.
- Possesses exceptional self-management and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with customers, subcontractor partners, and various teams within Motorola Solutions.
- Self-motivated and capable of performing duties independently without direct supervision.
- Skilled in quickly resolving customer problems even in stressful situations.
- Familiarity with configuring and testing base stations, repeaters, routers, switches, and MPLS networks.
- Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
- Proven experience utilizing equipment commonly used for optimizing and testing Motorola communications systems, such as Communications Systems Analyzers, Power Sensors and Watt Meters, TIMS sets, CPS, CSS, Antenna Systems Analyzers (FDRs).
- Skilled in configuring and testing Motorola and other two-way radio and subscriber products.
- Experience working with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, 911 applications, and networking equipment.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel and live within 50 miles from the coverage area.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s).
- Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
- Ability to be on-call 24/7/365
- Certifications such as ETA are a plus.
- CET certifications through CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ are highly desirable.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
Target Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 USD
Standard Hours are M-F 8:00am-5:00pm some weekends and nights might be required as part of an on-call schedule.
Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. Sign-on bonus is available based upon certifications and skill sets.
Basic Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED OR 5+ years’ experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Military, 2 way equipment, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering or Networking equipment.
