Job Description
The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation, ensuring minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic. This role is crucial to our commitment to delivering high-quality care for our patients and those of our partners.
Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge them.

Record maintenance data and perform decontamination.

Update patient information accurately.

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.

Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Understand and execute physicians' orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and handle specimens as required by test orders.

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

Package specimens for transport.

Store specimens according to required temperatures and procedures to maintain specimen integrity.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Wear appropriate attire and attend annual department trainings.

Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
Essential Skills
-
Phlebotomy expertise, including blood draw and specimen processing.
-
Experience with straight needle techniques.
-
2-3 years of experience with drawing blood.

Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Experience with infant draws is a plus.
-
Pediatric experience is beneficial.
Work Environment
The role offers a dynamic work environment, ideal for candidates who enjoy a change of scenery and in-state travel. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with every other Saturday required. The position does not include holidays or vacation time.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Vernon, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
