Job Description
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15-17. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.
The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm , where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.
On Thursday and Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.
AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Planner in our New York, NY office.
This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations.
- Reviews or assists in the review of development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans and regulations.
- Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
- Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, transportation tax base data and occupancy rates.
- Assists in evaluating re-zonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, special use permits, variances and other proposals.
- Coordinates community review of public and private development projects.
- Provides information to the public regarding development regulations.
- Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues.
- Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, Civil Engineering or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
:
- Experience with utility and transportation projects is highly desirable as is basic knowledge of environmental permit programs.
- Experience with NEPA and Water or Natural Resource analysis and permitting.
- Experience with NEPA, CEQR, SEQRA, and ULURP review processes and spatial resource analysis.
