Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Location : Utica, NY

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a high-acuity critical care assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong ICU experience across multiple critical care specialties and be comfortable floating between ICU units based on patient care needs.

Candidates with cardiovascular and fresh heart experience will receive priority consideration.

Schedule

• Day Shift | 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Floating required as needed

Unit Information

ICU Overview

• Total ICU Beds: 42
  • Neuro/Medical ICU: 22 beds
  • CTICU: 6 beds
  • Surgical/Trauma ICU: 14 beds

Common Patient Diagnoses

Neuro/Medical ICU

• Stroke
• Sepsis
• Altered Mental Status (AMS)
• Neuro Intervention (TCAR)
• Respiratory Failure
• CHF
• Post-STEMI patients

CTICU

• Cardiovascular surgery patients
• Cardiogenic Shock
• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

Surgical/Trauma ICU

• Trauma patients
• Major post-operative surgical cases

Specialty Equipment

• IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
• CRRT using Prismaflex or NxStage systems
• Ventriculostomy
• ICP Monitoring
• TTM / Arctic Sun

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients across multiple specialties
• Monitor and manage critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical conditions
• Operate advanced ICU equipment and therapies including CRRT and hemodynamic monitoring
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary critical care teams
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Float to various ICU units as required based on staffing and patient care needs

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required in one or more of the following:
  • ICU
  • SICU
  • CTICU
  • Trauma ICU
  • MS ICU
  • Neuro ICU
• Experience with CRRT and Prismaflex required
• Heart experience highly preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required

Certifications & Licensure

• Active NY RN license required
• Current AHA ACLS certification required
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• NURSYS verification required for all active RN licenses
