As we expand our neurological health services across the Northwell Health System , the Department of Neurology is seeking a BC/BE stroke/vascular neurologist to join our multi-disciplinary team at Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) in Riverhead, NY. Northwell Neurology offers flexible positions, including a combination of inpatient and ambulatory responsibilities as well as stroke hospitalist roles.

The Department of Neurology has experienced tremendous growth over the past five years across all regions, aiming to provide comprehensive, integrated healthcare and wellness services. Joining this service line offers the opportunity to connect with a large group of neurologists, participate in academic activities, attend world-class grand rounds and conferences, and collaborate with experts in every subspecialty.

At Northwell Healths Institute for Neurology , we have three hospitals ranked in the top 50 in U.S. News & World Report (North Shore University Hospital being the highest at #15 in the nation), along with four comprehensive stroke programs, 11 primary stroke centers, and 1 thrombectomy-capable center.

The Department of Neurology, led by Dr. Souhel Najjar , a world-renowned neurologist recognized for his clinical, research, and teaching expertise, has seen significant growth. The department leverages the resources of Northwell Health and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell to provide state-of-the-art care and contribute to advances in technology, education, and research.

Founded in 1951 as Central Suffolk Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center is the largest hospital in Eastern Suffolk County and the Eastern Hub of Northwell Health, New York States largest healthcare organization. As a non-profit 144-bed community hospital, we serve as the primary resource for advanced healthcare services for over 250,000 residents in the Riverhead area, Eastern Central Suffolk County, and Long Islands North Fork. Our facility features the areas only Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Level III Trauma Center, and NYUS-Designated Stroke Center.
