Job Title: Mammography Technician
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 9 Weeks Contract (Potential Extension)
Schedule: Day Shift (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Compensation
- Traveler Pay: $2,387.63/week
- Local Pay: $1,950/week
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mammography Technician to join a dynamic diagnostic imaging team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality mammographic examinations while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.
This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography procedures according to physician orders and established imaging protocols.
- Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Operate mammography equipment and imaging systems in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory standards.
- Review images for technical quality and completeness prior to submission for interpretation.
- Educate patients regarding mammography procedures and address questions or concerns.
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation.
- Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection prevention protocols.
- Ensure compliance with MQSA regulations and quality assurance requirements.
- Assist radiologists and healthcare providers as needed during diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain equipment functionality and report any operational issues promptly.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
- Maintain a professional and patient-centered approach to care.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current New York State License in Diagnostic Radiography required.
- Current ARRT Certification required.
- Must maintain all MQSA requirements and continuing education standards.
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of Mammography Technician experience required.
- Experience performing screening and diagnostic mammography examinations preferred.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of mammography procedures, patient positioning, and breast imaging techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and image quality standards.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and imaging systems preferred.
