Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit (NICU specialty)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Respiratory Therapist Contract)
• Assignment Duration: 16 weeks (potential extension up to 32 weeks)
• Start Date: November 3, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2160 - $2210
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Unit: Respiratory Care (NICU focus)

Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) experience (no first-time travelers)
• Experience with neonatal and pediatric respiratory care required
• Recent EPIC charting experience (within past 2 years) required
• Active New York Respiratory Therapist license or proof of application at submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, NRP, PALS, RRT
• COVID-19 vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Flexible scheduling, including every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Day/Eve)
• Reliable personal transportation required (public transportation not accessible)
• Prior travel healthcare experience required

Registered Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care to patients of all ages, with emphasis on NICU and pediatric populations
• Support nursery and emergency room (ER) as needed
• Perform ABG interpretation, assist with intubations, apply bubble CPAP, and manage mechanical ventilation
• Operate respiratory equipment: Puritan Bennett 980, V60, Max Venturi, F & P Hi Flow, LTV, Bubble CPAP, OLE-Volara
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, etc.)
• Document patient care using EPIC EMR system
• Float between hospital units as needed; provide coverage during weekends and holidays
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development
