JOB SUMMARY

RECAP/Western Orange County Head Start is a federally funded program dedicated to preparing preschool children from low-income families for success in school through a comprehensive family program. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our team. This role involves leading a classroom of 12 to 20 Head Start children, focusing on planning, program implementation, family partnerships, community and service coordination, record keeping, ongoing monitoring and self-assessment, and supervision and human resources. Responsibilities

• Plan and implement educational activities that promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, encouraging their involvement in the program.
• Coordinate with community services to support the needs of children and families.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for ongoing monitoring and self-assessment.
• Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and other classroom staff.
• Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for all children.

Qualifications

• Required: Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field.
• Experience teaching preschool-age children.
• Ability to lift a child weighing up to 40 pounds and perform home visits.
• Pass a physical examination, background check, and fingerprinting screen.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development.
• Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
