Senior Data Scientist, Language Learning

Duolingo, Inc. seeks multiple Senior Data Scientists, Language Learning (New York, NY) to lead data science initiatives end-to-end, including scoping, data collection and manipulation, modeling, validation, and communication of insights and recommendations. Apply advanced analytical methods, causal inference, machine learning, and AI to model user behavior in language learning and partner with product and engineering teams to build scalable business frameworks and solutions. Drive the data lifecycle by understanding, extracting, transforming, and validating data from multiple sources using relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Partner with data engineering and business intelligence teams to turn insights into data products (e.g., data pipelines, algorithms, self-service dashboards). Communicate analytical findings to executive stakeholders and collaborate with product teams to integrate insights into language learning product strategy and decision-making. Stay current with developments in statistical methods, machine learning, and LLMs, and contribute to continuous improvement of internal tools and analytical best practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data scientists to promote excellence, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. Some telecommuting permitted consistent with company policy. Job Requirements:Requires a Masters degree in Data Science, Mathematical Finance, Business Analytics, Information Systems or related field, and 3 years of experience in a Data Scientist or related position. Must have 3 years of experience with: Programming to extract, transform, clean, and analyze large amounts of data; Building datasets that enable ad-hoc analyses and efficient visualization; Full-stack data analysis, insight synthesis, and presentation; Using AI to accelerate workflows and generate insights; and Distilling complex data into concise explanations and actionable insights. Must have knowledge or experience in: Data Analytics; Statistics; Machine learning; Programming languages: SQL, Python, and R; and Data visualization tools: Sigma, Tableau, or Looker.
