The City of Syracuse is seeking qualified applicants for the the Director of Management & Budget. This position is responsible for the development and defense of the city budget, monitoring and enforcing the budget, performing financial analysis and other duties related to the management of city finances. The major focus of the position is to collaborate with Senior Staff and Department Heads and ensure an appropriate, transparent and achievable annual budget; to consult on and direct the budget review process, managebudget execution and systems and cost analysis programs. The Director is also charged with developing a multiyear budget strategy, synthesizing historical reports with contemporary analysis and appropriate projections.

This position coordinates closely with the Commissioner of Finance and requires interaction with local government employees and officials, the Mayor, elected officials, senior staff, department heads, fiscal officers, businesses, and the public. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer. An employee in this class exercises functional and direct supervision over related department staff and does related work as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

City of Syracuse Residency Required or must be willing to establish residency.

Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a baccalaureate degree in finance, accounting or business administration and six (6) years of professional level work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in budget administration; capital program administration; personnel or organization management; program planning or development in government; or in business organization and methods planning, of which two (2) years must have been in a supervisory capacity in budget administration; budget analysis; budget research; capital program analysis; or capital budgetary planning.

CPA, MBA, or MPA preferred.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
