Duties Description The Bureau of Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs and adults in other programs.The Public Health Nutritionist (PHN) 1 will conduct on-site administrative program reviews of sponsors and participating organizations to monitor and evaluate fiscal and administrative integrity and compliance with State and federal regulations. Responsibilities of the PHN 1 will include providing nutrition expertise and technical assistance to ensure the quality and safety of food service operations at participating organizations; reviewing and recommending approval of applications; reviewing budgets; providing training related to menu planning and food service operations; and maintaining required records consistent with CACFP regulations.

Minimum Qualifications Public Minimum Qualifications (HELPS Program):A. You must be a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.ANDB. you must have two years of full-time professional experience, after successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians, in the field of nutrition or dietetics.Substitution: A Master's Degree in , Health, Public Health, Public Administration, Health (Care/Services) Administration, Nutrition Education, Health Education, Community Health, Health Care Policy and Management, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work/Social Welfare, Human and Social Services, Early Childhood Education, or Public Policy may be substituted for one year of experience.Candidates, please provide your Commission on Dietetic Registration certification number on your cover letter or resume, or a copy of your certification card, with your application.Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Public Health Nutritionist 1.Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience working in a community public health program and knowledge of federal and State regulations. The candidate will possess excellent communication both written and verbal, strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple assignments and experience with Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
