Job Description:

Our client - a major utility firm based out of St. Lawrence County, NY - has an immediate need for a Construction Specialist. The particulars of the position are as follows.

Job Functions & Responsibilities:

• Reviews HASP submitted by contractors to ensure job task hazards are identified and mitigation plans are documented.
• Ensures Contractors have adequate training for task being performed.
• Provides frequent on-site reviews of contractors work, providing written summary of gaps and issues with contractors workforce, workplace and workplan.
• Ensures corrective actions are developed and implemented for identified gaps.
• Stops Work when conditions exist that could result in a potential significant injury or fatality.
• Ensures daily job briefs are conducted.
• Coaches Contractor employees and Subs to ensure they utilize proper PPE
• Leads and participates with Incident investigations.
• Assist Project Delivery and Management staff with various safety and environmental questions and matters.
• Coordinates with emergency service organizations.
• Attends contractor safety committee meetings.
• Support leadership in the preparation of internal reports by gathering data as requested.
• Executes other EHS task requested by management.

Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines covering safety, health and environmental aspects.
• Incident Investigation (RCA) trained
• Knowledge of Power Generation, transmission systems, renewables and components.
• Ability to work on multiple projects/Task concurrently.
• Knowledge of and experience with workplace hazards for construction, electric utility, transmission substations and right of ways.
• Ability to work closely with site/region leadership in a matrixed fashion.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• If no degree minimum of 2-5 years EHS experience required
• Transmission/ROW EHS experience preferred.
• Certifications preferred (CSP - ASP - CIH - CHST) - First Aid - CPR certification required.
