The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The incumbent will be a critical member of the recertification team and in that capacity, will conduct annual surveys and investigate complaints from residents, facility staff, advocates, and family representatives across multiple counties. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing immediate jeopardy and health emergency situations as they arise; write and review inspection and case summary reports for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and overall quality; review and enter data into the applicable databases electronic filing systems. Additionally, the incumbent will review complete post- survey reports such citations and complaint summaries, complete off-site and onsite post survey revisits, review plan of corrections submitted in response to statement of deficiencies, complete required CMS and state training utilizing the online training portals for CMS and the state and complete any live trainings offered by the department.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidate: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Health Care Surveyor 2, G20, or community Nursing Services Consultant Home Health Services, G22 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the non-competitive minimum qualifications listed below.Non-Competitive via NY HELPS: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.Substitution: A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.Preferred Qualifications: Ability to actively participate on an interdisciplinary team, accept constructive criticism, and display constant professionalism as a representative of the Department; excellent interview, observational, and writing skills and the ability to translate collected information into legal defensible reports. Experience with the aged and Aging population, especially in the provision of direct patient care as a human services or clinical professional, and an ability to appreciate how the aging process affects outcomes; and flexibility and dedication. Clinical knowledge and experience with Long Term Care and the aging population. Good understanding and use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly word, excel, outlook as well as SharePoint. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Testing certification and investigatory experience. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test certification is required within on year of date of employment.Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at Step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($84,173 - $94,121) plus an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $35,000 and an additional $4,000 location pay.This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
