Job Description:

Yerba Buena is seeking a versatile and experienced Retail Sales Operations Manager to drive sales performance, lead retail operations, and oversee staff training and coaching. This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to Diogenes (“Dío”) Brito, our Chief Operations Officer, and working in close partnership with our CEO, Jillian.

This role is not about clocking in to keep the lights on — it’s about becoming a core leader of a values-driven business that treats cannabis as more than a product. Our mission is to set a new standard for hospitality, design, and community in cannabis retail. You’ll be entrusted with building the systems, managing the people, and shaping the culture that allow us to deliver on that promise every day.

What It’ll Be Like to Work Here

You won’t be alone: you’ll be joining a small but growing team of retail staff, fulfillment associates, and budding operations support. You’ll also work directly with leadership to design initiatives, test experiments, and scale new offerings.

  • With Dío (COO): He’s a strategist and systems thinker who cares deeply about design, efficiency, and values-driven leadership. He’ll rely on you to be his operational counterpart — someone who can translate big-picture priorities into day-to-day execution, while also pushing back when something doesn’t make sense on the ground. Expect autonomy, direct and open communication, a collaborative problem-solving style and lots of support.
  • With Jillian (CEO): She’s currently balancing the duties of a GM and CEO. She’s sharp, people-oriented, and will look to you to take ownership of store operations so she can stay focused on growth and vision.
  • With the Team: You’ll lead a talented group of budtenders and fulfillment associates who care about cannabis, hospitality, and doing things the right way. They’re eager for growth and strong leadership that clears roadblocks, provides clarity, and makes their jobs smoother. You’ll also collaborate with Ryan, who supports marketing, inventory purchasing and KPI tracking.

We’re a lean, entrepreneurial team that values clear communication, problem-solving, and building systems that last.

Responsibilities :

Sales Performance & Coaching

  • Train and coach sales associates during onboarding and beyond.
  • Run roleplays, refreshers, and floor coaching to improve upselling, hospitality, and compliance.
  • Own KPIs like AOV, UPT, and conversion — track, analyze, and drive improvement.

Staff & Culture Leadership

  • Lead retail staff and team leads with a focus on guest experience and values-driven performance.
  • Build a culture of continuous learning and accountability.

Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee scheduling, compliance reporting, and adherence to OCM rules.
  • Firefighting → Systems: Step in to resolve issues when they arise, and own turning them into process improvements that prevent them from reoccurring.

Delivery Buildout

  • Partner with leadership to design and launch our cannabis delivery program.
  • Hire and manage supporting staff (dispatch, drivers) as needed.
  • Oversee scheduling, compliance reporting, and adherence to OCM rules.
  • Step in to resolve urgent issues and turn them into process improvements.

Executive Partnering

  • Collaborate closely with COO/CEO to execute priorities.
  • Surface frontline insights and recommend improvements.

Physical Requirements:

  • General mobility and comfort performing office-related physical tasks.
  • Comfort with bending, lifting, or assisting on the floor in emergencies.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in retail operations management (cannabis or regulated industry preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and coaching staff.
  • Familiarity with compliance-heavy industries and comfort with regulatory processes.
  • Data-driven mindset: able to track KPIs and translate numbers into action.
  • Hands-on problem solver who can step in when needed, but prefers to design systems that prevent problems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
