NICET Water-Based Systems Technician
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed fire protection system layout drawings using AutoCAD or other drafting software.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for water-based fire protection systems.
- Develop system designs including pipe sizing, routing, and component selection.
- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to coordinate fire protection system layouts.
- Apply applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20) to all design work.
- Assist in the preparation of submittal packages, including drawings, calculations, and material data.
- Revise and update drawings based on redlines, design changes, and coordination feedback.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other design professionals to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
- Maintain organized project documentation and drawing files in accordance with company standards.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in fire protection system design and drafting.
- NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (Level I or II preferred, or ability to obtain).
- Working knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20) and applicable building/fire codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software (Revit experience preferred).
- Experience performing hydraulic calculations for fire protection systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle as required for work assignments.
- Must be able to comply with company drug screening, including pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check, in accordance with client requirements.
