Job Summary

Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customer's needs. We are currently looking for a Traffic Control Foreperson. This is a seasonal position that is paid according to the NYS Prevailing Wage schedule plus an additional $3.50 per hour.

Main Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily safety meetings
  • Plan/Coordinate daily and weekly activities and adjust according to weather conditions i.e. road pre-trip, traffic control, lodging, etc
  • Collect and provide all pertinent paperwork for timely management of client's requirements and company procedures for invoicing, payroll, payables, etc
  • Interface with project officials and inspectors regarding worksite activities
  • Use various computer programs for tasks like time keeping, expense reports, etc
  • Act as the first point of contact for all employee concerns and address accordingly
  • Promptly report all incidents or accidents to Supervisor/Safety Officer
  • Attend project progress meetings as required
  • Actively works to develop and retain crew
  • Adhere to all Midland safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record (CDL preferred)
  • 3-5 years of construction experience (Traffic Control experience preferred)
  • Proficient computer and math skills required
  • Willing and able to travel and stay out of town
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required
  • Wears and maintains Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Basic mechanical ability and willingness to learn detailed FiberMat machine mechanics
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, work in tight spaces
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to extended periods of physical activity in extreme heat
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
