Position: After School Program Staff (Pre-K) - Play-Based Learning

Role Overview:

Do you have a passion for fostering joyful learning experiences for young children? Join our team as an After School Program Staff member, dedicated to creating a play-based environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction for pre-kindergarten students. In this role, you'll contribute to an engaging after-school program that focuses on building essential skills through interactive and hands-on activities, without the burden of homework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and facilitate play-based activities that promote creativity, imagination, and social development for pre-kindergarten children.
• Create a safe and welcoming environment where children can freely explore and engage in various age-appropriate activities.
• Foster a sense of camaraderie and collaboration among children, encouraging positive interactions and friendships.
• Design and implement art projects, games, music, and other enriching activities that align with our play-based philosophy.
• Support children during snack time, ensuring a nutritious and enjoyable experience.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to maintain a well-organized and orderly program space.
• Maintain open and effective communication with parents, sharing insights into their child's participation and experiences.
• Provide gentle guidance and supervision to ensure children's safety and well-being throughout the program.
• Uphold the principles of our play-based approach, focusing on holistic development and fostering a love for learning.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Passion for working with young children and creating engaging play-based learning opportunities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to connect with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Creativity and resourcefulness in designing and executing age-appropriate activities.
• Patience and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of pre-kindergarten children.
• A commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment.

• Required Technical Skills:
• -Familiarity with the use of computers and their associated equipment (mouse, keyboard, tablet).
• -Ability to learn and pick-up internal company software.
• Required Interpersonal Skills:
• -Active Listening: Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking appropriate questions, making sure to understand the severity of a problem and the impact to the clients.
• -Service Orientation: Puts priority on maintaining a high level of work and is willing to take criticism and makes changes in the work to ensure client needs are met. Candidates must be reliable, punctual, energetic, creative, fun, and work well with children.
• -Judgment and Decision-Making: Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one, using technical common sense and training to reduce overall potential for negative impacts.
• Preferred Technical Skills:
• -Office Management Tools: Use of multiple end-user software packages and cloud solutions (which must include a business productivity suite such as MS Office or Google Docs)
• Preferred Interpersonal Skills:
• -Critical Thinking: Use logic and reasoning to identify the risks and rewards of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems to improve operational efficiency; see the big picture and identify areas for improvement.
• Required Certifications:
• To be qualified as a Teacher Assistant you must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Job Details:

• -Wages: up to $20 per hr
• -Experience: Past experience in childcare required
• -Travel requirements: Must have reliable transportation to job location. Periodically, there may arise a requirement for mandatory team meetings or training sessions to be held in the evenings or over the weekends.
• -Working conditions —always in person, may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, employees should expect to be on their feet, and uniforms are required.
• Physical Requirements:
• -Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be able to keep up with active children.
