Sr IT Principal Architect - AI Solutions

Description & Requirements

We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Senior Solutions Architect to join our Engineering & Delivery team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical expertise, customer-facing collaboration, and solution ownership.

You'll work closely with solution architects and product leads, engineering, and client teams to design, lead, and deliver sophisticated AI-powered automation and conversational solutions in various Maximus AI platforms. In addition to building complex solutions hands-on, you'll also play a critical role in defining architectural best practices, mentoring others, and ensuring technical excellence across multiple initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, and deliver AI-powered automation solutions across our platforms.
- Lead technical strategy on key projects, including solution architecture, system integration, and platform configuration.
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable designs.
- Advise enterprise clients and stakeholders on best-fit architectures that align with their strategic objectives.
- Provide deep technical leadership in areas such as APIs, data pipelines, performance optimization, and orchestration of bot behaviors.
- Conduct architecture reviews to guide implementation choices and enforce quality, security, and compliance standards.
- Create comprehensive playbooks, develop support documentation, and implement automation for handling support requests on an enterprise AI platform.
- Mentor junior and mid-level solution architects and no-code developers.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and champion innovations that improve solution modularity, robustness, and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in technical roles, such as software engineering, solution architecture, or technical consulting

• 3+ years in client-facing or cross-functional leadership positions (e.g., Technical Product Owner, IT Project Manager, Solutions Lead)

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field

• Proven track record architecting and delivering complex digital solutions with API integrations, enterprise systems, and cloud services

• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, system design principles, and low-code/no-code platforms

• Hands-on proficiency in technologies such as JavaScript, REST APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), data modeling, and process automation

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills

• English fluency at Upper-Intermediate level or above

• Experience with AI/ML-enabled systems or conversational interfaces.

• Prior work with B2B SaaS products or highly configurable platforms.

• Exposure to security, scalability, and performance optimization in complex solution delivery.

• Familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD practices, and testing strategies.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
