Nocturnist - Hospitalist

Physician Practice Enhancement is a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join our hospitalist program as a Nocturnist at St. Joseph's in Yonkers, NY
Qualifications:
- Board certification in Hospital Medicine, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- MD or DO licensed in the state of New York
- Experience working as a nocturnist or in night hospitalist roles.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Strong background in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to hospitalized adults during night shifts, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.
- Respond promptly to acute medical issues and emergencies, coordinating with nursing staff and specialists as necessary.
- Perform necessary procedures such as central line placement, lumbar punctures, and paracentesis in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Communicate effectively with day hospitalists, specialists, nursing staff, and patients’ families to ensure continuity of care and clear handoffs.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers during the night shift to optimize patient flow and resource utilization.
