Part-Time Social Worker

The YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood is seeking a social worker for the Center for Aging in Place, who is passionate about working with older adults. This position requires strong clinical assessment skills and a knowledge of aging-related issues.

• YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood, 54 Nagle Avenue, New York, NY 10024
• Riverdale Y, 5625 Arlington Avenue, Bronx, NY 10471
• Home Visits, Washington Heights, Inwood & Riverdale

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting outreach and comprehensive psychosocial assessments of older adults.
• Referring older adults to the appropriate Y Aging in Place services and other programs.
• Conducting home visits for initial assessments, care planning and ongoing support.
• Providing supportive counseling, advocacy and resource coordination.
• Maintaining electronic records using an online relational database.
• Engaging in regular supervisory and team meetings.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• Part-time, FSLA Non-Exempt, onsite position
• This is a part time position, 21 hours per week

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work is primarily performed in a community center environment
• Home visits are required

REQUIREMENTS:

• LMSW required; LCSW preferred
• Minimum of two years of experience working with the geriatric population
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other technology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on the principles of trauma informed care
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

COMPENSATION:

• $30 per hour worked

• Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Must pass a background check and other pre-employment requirements
