Job Title: Prevention Specialist
Schedule: Approximately 10 to 25 hours per week
Job Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly
Pay Rate: $25 to $30 per hour
JOB DESCRIPTION
United Activities Unlimited, Inc. (UAU) is a Staten Island-based community organization providing youth development, education, and community support services. The Prevention Specialist supports OASAS-funded prevention programming by delivering evidence-based education, outreach, and counseling services to at-risk youth and community members. This role focuses on assessment, prevention counseling, community engagement, and documentation while supporting positive youth development and reducing risk factors related to substance use, violence, and family stressors. This position requires regular travel throughout Staten Island.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field required
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Fluent Spanish required
· Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required
· Minimum of two years of experience working with youth ages 5 to 18
· Experience providing prevention, counseling, outreach, or youth services
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, and virtual platforms
· Strong verbal, written, and problem-solving communication skills
· Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
· Willingness to take initiative and maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends
· Demonstrated cultural competence and respect for individuals’ diverse backgrounds and abilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to work in a standard office environment using typical office equipment
· Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday
· Ability to remain in a stationary position for portions of the day
· Ability to work both indoors and outdoors based on program needs and weather conditions
· Ability to travel to multiple program sites throughout Staten Island
· Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information
· Ability to observe details at close range
