Inspired by the work and legacy of artist JR, the Can Art Change the World? Foundation harnesses the power of art to unite and support communities worldwide. We fund and create educational and artistic programs that nurture personal growth, promote community healing, and incite social change through art.

Summary of Position

The Communications Associate supports the Communication and Events Manager on executing all outward communications tasks for the foundation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Content Creation & Digital Storytelling

• Create content for all communications plans, including reels, short videos, graphics, and social media posts
• Write, edit, and proofread copy for social media, newsletters, emails, and website updates
• Produce, edit, and optimize video content using CapCut or similar tools
• Design visual content using Canva or similar tools
• Maintain a well-organized archive of assets for all projects

Community, Donor & Internal Communications

• Interact with Can Art Change the World? and Inside Out Project communities by responding to direct messages, emails, and social media comments
• Support donor communications, including updates, thank-you notes, and stewardship messages
• Assist with internal communications and coordination with global teams
• Contribute to PR efforts and outreach as needed

Strategy & Creative Support

• Support the Communications and Events Manager with creative strategy for all communications
• Generate and propose new ideas for content, campaigns, and engagement initiatives
• Ensure all content aligns with Can Art Change the World?’s brand, tone, and storytelling goals

Event Support (Occasional)

• Assist with organizing events, including booking vendors, managing logistics, and coordinating schedules
• Provide on-site support as needed to ensure smooth execution
• Other duties as assigned

Qualification(s)

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience creating digital content, including short-form video production and editing
• Strong working knowledge of Canva and CapCut
• Bachelor’s Degree or previous work experience in related field
• Excellent copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills
• Strong visual sensibility and attention to detail
• Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines
• Able to communicate in French or Portuguese is a plus

Other Requirements

• Prolonged periods of walking, sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
• Must be able to work on-site in New York City
