The College of Business at Stony Brook University (SBU) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice in Accounting (non-tenure track), starting fall 2026. Responsibilities and Requirements
- Develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level accounting courses.
- Support the College in establishing and maintaining industry connections to enhance student engagement with the public accounting and finance sector.
- entor students and support co-curricular initiatives such as clubs, internships, case competitions, and other activities that prepare students for accounting careers.
- Contribute to administrative and committee service within the College and University.
- Professor of Practice Position : engage in impactful scholarly academic research that contributes to both academic knowledge and industry practice.
Required Qualifications: Lecturer Position:
- Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in accounting from an accredited program.
- Active CPA license in New York State (upon start date)
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses.
- Significant professional experience in accounting or a closely related field.
- Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in accounting, or ABD with expected completion prior to the start date.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses.
- Evidence of a promising research agenda in accounting (all areas considered).
- Active engagement in academic or professional communities sufficient to meet AACSB scholarly/practitioner qualifications.
- Accounting certifications beyond the CPA.
- Strong professional connections/engagement with the accounting industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Proven record of fostering an inclusive and respectful learning and working environment
- Active CPA license in New York State (upon start date)
