Travel Surgical Tech Job
SMH Level 4 Pediatric OR Surgical Tech is a travel (temporary assignment) opportunity in the pediatric operating room setting. Location: Rochester, New York. Start date: 04/13/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,443–$1,459 per week. Guaranteed hours: none. Shift: 10-hour nights. This assignment involves working in a hospital operating room with multiple pediatric specialties; orientation on days for the first 1–2 weeks is required. Key Highlights

- Orientation: must orient on days for the first 1–2 weeks
- Schedule notes: no weekends and no on-call Responsibilities
- Prepare the pediatric operating room and maintain a sterile field across multiple specialties, including general surgery, urology, dental, OMFS, neurosurgery, plastics, burns, ENT, and orthopaedics
- Scrub for and circulate during pediatric procedures, supporting the surgeon, anesthesia team, and other OR staff
- Manage instrument counts, specimen labeling, and documentation; ensure proper sterile technique and patient safety measures
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver age-appropriate care for pediatric patients across the age continuum
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and hospital policies; assist with equipment setup, turnover, and room readiness between cases Requirements
- New York State Surgical Technologist license (or eligible to be grandfathered under NYS Public Health Law 2824)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience; pediatric experience preferred
- OR scrub and circulating capabilities; able to work in a Level 1 trauma environment preferred
- Pediatric experience is helpful; ability to work night shift and participate in orientation on days during the first 1–2 weeks Benefits and Support
