Girls Assistant Coach: Track & Field

Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women (OLM), an institution known for its tradition of excellence, is seeking a coach to contribute to the mission and standards of the School by recruiting and retaining student athletes who will benefit from the School’s Catholic tradition and offerings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Plans, prepares, and delivers coaching using a variety of methods

● Collaborates with coaches and Director of Athletics to develop and continuously improve sports program and coaching; accepts feedback and incorporates improvements into coaching

● Assesses student-athlete needs and progress to adjust coaching methods as needed. Works with students individually to help them overcome specific challenges.

● Fosters and maintains open communication with students, coaches, parents, Director of Athletics, and administration

● Assesses student progress towards athletic objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration

● Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (Director of Athletics, administration, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction

● Manages student athlete behavior to promote a safe and optimal sporting environment

● Reports incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive sporting environment, and adhering to state law and school policies

● Implements Sports Medicine for the Soul program consistently and effectively throughout the coaching season

● Completes required compliance training including but not limited to first aid and CPR certification and Sports Medicine for the Soul program

● Upholds the mission of Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women

● Demonstrates the Mercy charisms and acts as a role model in leadership and the sport

● Promotes the Mercy values and Critical Concerns in our community

Required Qualifications:

● Commitment to the values of the School and student-athlete success

● Excellent communication and organizational skills

● Previous coaching or playing experience in the specified sport

● Weekday availability from approximately 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

● NYS coaching certification

● Weekend availability as needed

Stipend Range:

● $1,000.00 for 2026 Spring Season
