Purpose:Assumes responsibility, under supervision of Operating Room Leadership/Anesthesiologist and Registered Nurse, for the set-up and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and monitors supplies.Assistsanesthesiologist in delivery of anesthetic care for a specific group of neonates, pediatric, adolescent,adult,or geriatric patientsin accordance withSurgical Services and Anesthesia Department's established policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility to ensure proper functioning of all equipment by using appropriate quality control procedures on a routine basis.

Works collaboratively as a team member when providing patient care to promote positive patient outcomesand tomaintaincontinuity of patient care through clear communication and professional working relationships including pertinent oral and/or written report to oncoming relief/ancillary personnel.

Assistsin placement of invasive monitoring lines, initiation of regional anesthesia and other anesthetic procedures as assigned.

Sets up all pressure transducers and ensures proper calibration of transducers and monitors.

Follows established policies for all safety and infection control practices andmonitorsthe environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards aremaintained.

Remains available and accessible when on duty or on-call

Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices inhealthcare field as evidence by attending in services for equipment, supplies and procedures.

Utilizes material,equipment,and time in a safe,therapeuticand cost-effective manner.

Responds to all supervisors' requests for information andassistsina timelyand courteous manner.

Demonstrates regular,reliableand predictable attendance.

Performs other duties asrequired.

Education and Experience Requirements:

*Experienced Techs required

MinimumKnowledge,Skillsand AbilitiesRequirements:

Ability to take direction

Ability to work collaboratively as a team with multi-disciplines

License, Registration, orCertificationRequirements:

*Basic Life Saving (AHA or ARC)

*Preferred:Anesthesia Technician certificationfrom a National or State recognized professional organization whichrequiresan accrediting exam.

*Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistantand/or EKG CertificationWorking Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
