Description
Stony Brook University invites applications for a SUNY Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+ ( ) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in the Department of Computer Science. This fellowship is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the lecturer level and will commence in Fall 2026. The PRODiG Plus program is designed with two goals: (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. The fellow will be a part of a mentored research environment throughout the two-year long fellowship. With successful performance and evaluation, candidates who demonstrate excellence in innovative research (with the potential for funding), equitable and inclusive teaching strategies focused on student success, and potential to participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring mission of the computer science department will be invited to join the tenure-track faculty at Stony Brook University at the end of the fellowship.

Hold a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution in Computer Science or a closely related field prior to the start date.

Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer, unpaid, or community service; or related experience or expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

From a low-income background (e.g. Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni or are veterans.

The Department of Computer Science currently has about 60 full-time faculty members and over 2200 students in its undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs combined. The department is housed in a new state-of-the-art 70,000 sq ft building and also occupies parts of other buildings. The department is either home to or has significant partnerships with several interdisciplinary centers on campus with our faculty playing leadership roles.
