Community Specialist IV
Status: Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $24.33 to $24.85 (Part-Time and Full-Time opportunities available)
Sign-On Bonus: Earn $500 after six (6) months of full-time employment, and an additional $500 after nine (9) months of full-time employment.

Position Summary
As a Community Specialist IV, you will provide specialized support to individuals with complex needs in classroom and community settings, including implementing programs that may include a variety of trainings, teaching procedures, and interventions. As a CS IV, you will complete a training curriculum with a concentration in one of two areas: 1.) Supporting Individuals with Complex Behavior Needs or 2.) Supporting Individuals with Complex Medical Needs. You will be expected to demonstrate ongoing proficiency in competencies related to the specialized focus of your training curriculum.

Instruction & Program Development
- Provide direct support and instruction in individual and group settings.
- Develop and implement lesson plans based on individual program plans.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials; lead hands-on activities in site-based and community environments.
- Create and maintain appropriate learning environments to support successful community integration.
Assessment & Planning
- Conduct assessments to identify interests, skills, abilities, and training needs.
- Document and compile assessment results; match individuals with training, volunteer, recreational, and employment opportunities aligned with their goals.
Skill Development
- Teach functional skills such as behavior management, independent living, community integration, and pre-employment skills.
- Monitor progress and adjust strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with individuals, families, caregivers, clinical staff, and external partners.
- Participate in planning meetings and act as a liaison with community organizations.
Direct Support
- Assist with personal hygiene needs, including toileting, feeding, and showering as required.
- Administer prescribed medications after successful completion of AMAP certification.
- Operate agency vehicles for transportation and travel training.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete and maintain accurate electronic/manual documentation, including data collection, monthly notes, habilitation plans, and incident reports in compliance with 624 Regulations.
- Maintain organized program areas and replenish materials as needed.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance and oversight to new staff; demonstrate job duties and assist with department-specific orientation.
- Mentor staff as assigned and ensure adherence to agency standards.
Other Duties
- Ensure health, welfare, and safety of program participants on-site and in the community.
- Provide coverage in other areas as needed.
- Perform related duties as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field (Five years of experience working in a direct support position outside of this agency, along with demonstrated competencies in completion of the required duties, may be substituted in lieu of a degree.)
- One (1) year of professional experience working directly with individuals with development disabilities preferred.
