Job Title: Paver Operator

Overview: Operate equipment used for applying asphalt to roads.

Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

• Operate a variety of paving equipment to place hot or cold mix asphalt, aggregate (crusher run) ect.
• Observe distribution of paving material to adjust machine settings or material flow, and indicate low spots for workers to add material.
• Control traffic.
• Start heating units of machines, and regulate screed temperatures and asphalt flow rates.
• Inspect, clean, maintain (grease), and repair equipment, using mechanics' hand tools, or report malfunctions to supervisors.
• Control paving machines to push dump trucks and to maintain a constant flow of asphalt or other material into hoppers or screeds.
• Operate tamping machines or manually roll surfaces to compact earth fills, foundation forms, and finished road materials, according to grade specifications.
• Start machine, engage clutch, and push and move levers to guide machine along forms or guidelines and to control the operation of machine attachments.
• Fill tanks, hoppers, or machines with paving materials.
• Set up and tear down equipment.
• Coordinate truck dumping.
• Shovel blacktop.
• Must be able to work as a team and display good communication skills
• Must wear proper PPE at all times

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of relative experience required
• OSHA 10 Safety Training Certificate
• Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conducted
• High school diploma or GED is preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Reliable transportation to and from work site
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Strong work ethic
• A CDL license is a plus
• Must have a clean motor-vehicle record
• NYSDOT or similar paving experience preferred

Salary Range: $16.00 - $60.00/hr (Prevailing Wage)
