Location: New York, NY 10065

Duration: 11 Weeks

Pay Rate: $68 – $70 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (45-minute break)

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled Pathologist Assistant to support a high-volume Surgical Pathology Department for an 11-week contract assignment in New York City . In this role, you will assist pathologists with the preparation, examination, and processing of surgical specimens while ensuring precise documentation and adherence to laboratory quality standards.

This position is ideal for professionals experienced in surgical pathology who thrive in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, including complex specimens and small biopsies.

• Prepare tissues for histological processing , including specimen fixation and sectioning.

• Provide detailed macroscopic descriptions of anatomical structures and specimen features.

• Manage specimen accessioning, labeling, receipt, and processing in accordance with laboratory protocols.

• Conduct gross and microscopic photography of specimens when required.

• Review relevant clinical information , including imaging, lab results, and patient records.

• Assist with radiographic imaging of specimens when necessary.

• Support and help train Pathology Residents in gross room procedures and techniques.

• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements .

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State (NYS) Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program or an equivalent program approved by the NYS Education Department .

• Experience in surgical pathology grossing and specimen handling preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-volume laboratory environment .
