Guaranteed hours: 0.0.Shift: 3x12 Days. Setting: hospital-style med/surg unit with telemetry overflow to support ED boarders; orientation is 12 hours. The unit is a 14-bed overflow/flex Med/Surg Telemetry unit with diverse interdisciplinary support and EPIC charting. NY license in hand required to submit; candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for adult med/surg patients with telemetry, including monitoring for changes related to ED boarders and transfers
- Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion; administer IM/SQ injections; manage NG/G-tube care and feeding; monitor and maintain Foley catheter care
- Conduct wound care, dressing changes, JP/Hemovac drains, and appropriate wound vac management; perform central line dressing changes as ordered
- Monitor EKG/12-lead, provide oxygen therapy, and support activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, ambulation); adhere to isolation precautions and infection control practices
- Document patient status and interventions in EPIC; communicate changes to the RN/MD using SBAR; participate in handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds
- Coordinate with IV team, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, RRT, Transport, Unit Secretary, and Interpretation Services as needed
- Float to care for med/surg patients as required; participate in block scheduling when possible; weekend coverage as assigned

Requirements
- Active New York Practical Nurse license (in hand) to submit
- Minimum 1 year RN-level nursing experience required (per job notes)
- EPIC charting experience required
- BLS certification required
- Phlebotomy and IV placement competency (mandatory)
- Telemetry monitoring experience and ability to work in a med/surg/telemetry setting; float to med/surg as needed
- LPNs: may not assume assignment or act as resource in GIOF or med/surg
