Mission and Vision

WAIT House’s mission is to provide stability to youth who present themselves as homeless. This will be accomplished through the immediate provision of coordinated services; reunification of families where appropriate; the provision of supervised emergency and transitional housing; with the goal of personal responsibility and self-sufficiency.

All youth in Warren and Washington Counties who present as homeless, runaway, or street-involved will have safe, supportive housing and related services necessary to live and grow emotionally, educationally, spiritually, mentally, and physically to become healthy, productive adults.

Position Summary

Clinicians in this program will be working closely with children, families, and individuals with a multi-disciplinary team approach. Clinicians should have a genuine desire to act as an advocate to support clients, foster their capacity for growth and help clients develop coping mechanisms in order to improve their lives. They will be providing therapy, skill building, and psychoeducational support to individuals and families in crisis in order to help align their behaviors and goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Specialized training working with Children and Families
  • Ability to implement principles of person-centered planning, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, social determinants of health, cultural humility, restorative practice and other best practices.
  • Taking a lead role in providing services to clients/families such as:
  • Risk Assessment
  • Substance Abuse Screen/Assessment
  • Suicide Assessment
  • Mental Health needs assessment
  • Social Needs Screening - Health Leads
  • Comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment to include diagnosis and needs to develop a treatment plan (IAP)
  • Close collaboration with collateral providers involved in the lives of the youth and family.
  • Opportunities to provide holistic care to the youth and family system via individual, group, and family counseling modalities.
  • Provide therapeutic intervention on an ongoing basis with clients.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients, complying with all state/federal regulations regarding documentation and billing.
  • Collaboration and coordination of treatment with other service providers in community as well as the team at Wait House.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality and privacy standards, including compliance with HIPAA
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and organizational policies
  • Responsible for knowing and adhering to organizational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate professionalism and excellence in internal and external customer service
  • Meet attendance and performance standards outlined in the WAIT House Employee Handbook
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Engage in regular self-care practices to support personal well-being, maintain professional boundaries, and sustain effectiveness in providing support.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree required. Applicants must have completed their MSW and be actively working toward New York State LMSW licensure. Clinical supervision will be provided.
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or database systems
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism

This position operates in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on supporting families experiencing housing instability. The role requires a balance of administrative efficiency and compassionate client interaction.
